The Taproom at Marshall Brewing Company

Marshall Brewing - Creater of Tulsa's Most Well-known Beer

Marshall Brewing Company: A Tulsa Icon

Tulsa beer experts Marshall Brewing Company are celebrating 10 years of operation this month.

I can still remember the first Marshall beer that I had — a Sundown Wheat — and all the buzz about their beers when they started popping up in pubs around downtown and Cherry Street. 10 years later, they’re still producing tasty beers that cover the wide spectrum of craft beer styles.

On a recent afternoon, a couple of friends of mine wanted to grab a bite to eat; I’d heard that the Oklahomies’ Munch Co. food truck would be parked outside of the Tap Room, so I recommended that we go try it out. The pictures on their Facebook page showed some of the different menu items and they looked delicious.

Throughout the week, Marshall Brewing Company opens their doors to the public, allowing beer fans to come in and taste what’s become a vast selection of beers over the last ten years.

The Tap Room (618 S. Wheeling) is a cozy tasting room (at the southeast corner of their building) where you can have your crowlers (think: a refillable container for your beer) filled with any of their seasonal or year-round beers or simply just have a beer or two with a buddy.

On the Friday that we visited, the weather was about as beautiful as you can ask for, coming into April. We popped into the Tap Room, where we were greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable gentleman behind the bar. The three of us decided we should try the This Machine IPA — a Belgian-style IPA that I hadn’t tried yet.

I clearly didn’t waste any time enjoying Marshall’s This Machine IPA.

As I’ve come to expect from Marshall Brewing Company over the years, we enjoyed the This Machine IPA immensely. Straight from a chilly keg, this beer was refreshing, crisp, and had an enjoyable and relatively complex flavor.

With perfect weather outside and cold brews in hand, we headed outside to see what kind of delicious choices that the Oklahomies’ bunch had to offer.

I’d never actually had anything from the Oklahomies’ Munch Co. truck, but their menu items had my mouth watering!

I ended up ordering their “Elvis Fat Cat” gourmet tacos ($11) and they were packed full of flavor and very filling, too.

My tacos were ready in about 8 minutes, which is to be expected, but — HOLY COW — look at these puppies…

As an alleged “enthusiast” of Tulsa-made tacos, I can tell you right now that these are easily as good as any tacos you’ll find in the metro. To find out when you can buy these same exact tacos, follow Oklahomies’ Munch Co. here. Thank me later.

Summary

I’ll be coming back. I think that the way to hit up the Tap Room at Marshall Brewing Co. is to find a nice day when they have a food truck outside… especially if it’s Oklahomies’ Munch Co. I can’t overstate how well one a good Marshall beer jibes with an Oklahomies taco. Trust me on that one.
